gt foodies: beignets…
In honor of New Orleans and the spirit of Mardi Gras that just ended a couple of days ago; I bring you a must have staple of Cafe Du Mondo in Naawlins. I’ve been to New Orleans twice for vacation and was there a week and a half before the sadness of Katrina hit. *Sigh* Without sounding trite there really is nothing like The Big Easy. I have memories of a rich history, music, good food, good people and an overall fun town. For a minute we thought about relocating but when that Fahrenheit sweltered to a balmy 97 Degrees it made GT aggy enough to want to jump into an alligator infested swamp. I’m quite useless in that kind of heat. Here’s a recipe.

It is indeed a wonderful city. I visited for the Essence Music Festival one year and fell instantly in love. I was immediately comfortable in a way I haven’t felt about another city in a long time. I lived at Cafe Du Monde on Beignets and Orange Juice.
I want N’awlins back for all of us!
