Ian Johnson: Billie

*Calming Self*

Simply beautiful. That’s the only way GT can describe these hauntingly realistic portraits painted by artist Ian Johnson. They’re a visual feast for the eyes and I want one. Now. Right in my foyer. Of course Ian followed his heart and never finished art school and of course he’s a San Fransico Based California skateboarder. That would explain his love affair for the art of improvisation. A few beauties after the jump but much more can be found at his “even more dope” website.

Wow…I’m not a fan of realistic artwork, but these just jump out at you and capture the emotion. Especially Billie.

I seldon post a response, but those paintings warranted such behavior. Stunning pieces to say the least – I love the contrast btwn the airy, vibrant backgrounds with the solemn, searching gravity of the musicians. Blessings to all

Absolutely love these! I saw his Al Green painting a while ago and wasn’t sure who was the artist. Thanks for this!
