outside the cubicle.
GT knows a “do what you love” grustle when I see one. And for me there’s nothing more inspiring than seeing a woman take risks, and watching her passion unfold before her very eyes. Meet Elizabeth Lewis…38…and a person (out of zillions) who hated her day job, lost an ailing mother, and needed to be in a place where she saw herself. She decides to walk into a bead store. Buys some string, some semi-precious stones, got some tools and started “playing around .” A friend or two thinks her talent is more than marginal. She decides to throw a jewelry party, some guests model her pieces and she ends up selling $10,000 worth of jewelry that night. Voila! A business is born. She can’t afford a separate showroom so her living space and her business are one. She hosts events with pretty displays, tons of mirrors, serves cupcakes, Veuve Clicquot Champagne, and dresses it up with roses from the Deli. I know what your thinking: stuff like that never happens to me. But I’m here to tell you that a story like this can’t be planned. It’s called walking out on faith even when you’re scared sh*tless.

Wonderful story. I’ve had dreams of jewelry-making for years, soon I’ll be done with school and will actually have time to pursue it.
