women’s talk: your it color.

Wurq!

What is your go to color when you want to look your best? I’m looking at the woman in this red fiercenessfabulousness and SMH at the fact that I’ve known for a long time that red was, is and will never be my color.  When I clothing shop red might as well not even exist cause cause its never on my radar. Red + GT= oil and water. And I’d rather eat hospital food. Everyone in New York City eats and wears chic black for BLD and in true oh so predictable cliche form I tend to follow suit when it comes to looking my sharpest. I might date black’s cousins and its polar opposite: shades of grey and white but for the most part the weardrobe is insanely filled with safe neutrals. So…..are you part of my clubhouse or are you on the other side of the rainbow?

for me it would be the color of hibiscus. kinda red, a little orangish, and creamy. Its the color my mother dressed me in as a baby and anytime she buys something for me, its in this color. 26 years later, oddly enough, anytime I wear this color I get compliments.

Green is my it color, purple being a close second. But my closet is full of safe neutrals as well

I actually look best when wearing bright pinks and oranges… I can guarantee a day full of compliments whenever I wear those colors… But, alas, I am committed to my black and neutral wardrobe. I buy a lot of colorful clothing but I never wear any of it.

My color is definitely blue! It calms me in situations when I’m unsure & is always appropriate no later the occasion or venue. With my height & big hair, red would be just too much. I think blue puts people at ease, as well, when they have to approach you or vice versa!

Ahhh GT, red is my color! Not tomato red or orange red but a deep blue red or burgundy. I get so many compliments in this color. I must say however, I wear it with lots of neutrals – blacks, browns, blues…

My it color is yellow. I LOVE how I feel in fresh yellow on a beautiful Spring or Summer day. Plus, whenever I wear people HATE on it ALL DAY therefore it MUST be flyy… **snickers**

I used to have a closet full of black, then mostly neutrals with a splash of color here and there. Now, I have a bunch of colors, neutrals and black. It depends on my mood. I used to shy away from red, but the last couple of years I have found some really great coats, shoes and accessories in red.

I grew up on Red being the color for me inspired by my gram. She wear Red and look fierce and glam. I still appreciate the color on me..now I’m in love in Blue. Wearing Blue for me is like wearing a piece of Heaven.

I’ve got to say that me in red knocks ‘em dead! Something about it is glam and fierce and gets attention like a fire engine. :) I also love colorful accessories and print separates. For work, I tend to veer towards neutrals more than I’d liked to, but I try to spice it up a bit with an accent color or some fierce accessories.

I’m a BubbleGum Pink girl myself……and I mix it with other colors, except green, due to my overall skintone not agreeing with that color.

I look good in white and yellow. WHich is great because I love those nice light spring-y colors. My favorite color is green (all shades) and it is all over my house and sprinkled in my wardrobe too.

Ooh I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately on your “season”. Most black women (unless they have lighter hair) fall under Autumn or Winter. I’m an autumn which means black and white wash me out, but warm, rich colors I can stunt in.

Basically, do you have a cool or warm undertone to your skin. Autumn=warm, Winter=cool.

My IT color is a golden-yellow. I dazzle in it.

Oh, and pure primary red is NOT my color either no matter how much I used to wish it was. Now, warm it up with some orangey-red tones and I’m all over it.

GT you would probably look nice in a deeper red that leans toward burgundy. Mm-hmm, lookin’ all luxurious and thangs.

My favorite color is purple – I’m not sure if is most suited for me but looking at my favorite shade always cheers me up so I think I glow in it no matter what. :)

Gray has always been one of my go-to colors, but if I want to feel off the charts, I throw on some purple. It brings out my eyes (even if I do say so myself… *wink).
