two thumbs up?

It’s a quaint house on a quite lane (at least that’s what it feels like) that’s different without trying to be different. Life ain’t a dress rehearsal so I guess if you want to paint your house all black everything its certainly your prerogative to do you. Just know that Get Togetha’s reaction was strong but in quite an intrigued way. In my imagination if someone were to tell me that they seen a black house in a quaint neighborhood I’d easily imagine a house run by dead zombie children..but its nice to see my judgement get shut down…Would you go there with a noir shell?

Is this house in San Francisco? It sure looks familiar. One of the things I love most about victorians is their details, and from the photo, it looks like they are somewhat obscured by the color. If I wanted to paint my house black, I would, but I don’t see myself ever wanting to. There is a house not far from where I live (actually its more like a mansion) that’s Prince Rogers Nelson purple. It looks interesting though. I can’t help but hear “When Doves Cry” every time I pass the house, but it’s interesting.

I thought “SF” immediately, too! In fact, there was an all black house directly across the street from my Catholic grammar school, and Anton Levay lived there, the Satantic Verses guy. He loved kids and gave everyone candy. He freaked out the nuns good and plenty. This house is actually done well (at least in pix). I’m house painting right this second, so I can tell you how hard it is to get colors right in all the different lights of the day…enough to have made me say yesterday, “Paint it all black” This must be a SF thang! It’s kinda cute if that’s appropriate!, and kinda looks like Pot HIll, one of my old ‘hoods.

I’m a little torn with this one. I love the bold move with the black, but the modern glass doors…hummm I’m not sure. Overall, I like it.

It’s definitely in San Francisco, though it isn’t on such a quiet street. The interior can be seen here: http://freshome.com/2010/08/30/eye-catching-victorian-duplex-in-san-francisco/
